Dear Child of God,
For the last three days we’ve been studying Nehemiah and discovering why it’s so important to start the year off with prayer and fasting.
Nehemiah was an ordinary man like you and me, but yet he was used mightily by God to rebuild Jerusalem. But if we want to have the same success, we must study the formula that he used.
How many people today, as soon as they get a desire for something or desire to do something, they rush out ahead of themselves and it all usually ends in failure. How many relationships/marriages are failing, how many businesses are struggling, how many lives are falling apart, all because God was never a part of the foundation.
When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.(Nehemiah 1:4)
Nehemiah heard the news sometime between November-December, but it wasn’t until the next spring when he approached the king. This means he had been in a time of fasting and prayer for upwards to four months. Not just 4 hours or 4 days, 4 months!
He understood how important preparation was to his success. And not only preparation, but the patience to wait until the right time.
Child of God, this is what is killing and has killed many great visions and destinies.
The Bible tells us of the first king of Israel, Saul, though he was anointed and chosen by God but he forfeited it all out of fear. You see fear is almost always at the root of everything we do. If we get angry, there is a fear behind it. If we are impatient, there is a fear behind it. When Saul was told to wait until Samuel came to present the burnt offering, he went ahead and did it himself out of fear of what others would do.
When Samuel asked why he acted so foolishly, his response was, “I saw my men scattering from me, and you didn’t arrive when you said you would, and the Philistines are at Micmash ready for battle. (1 Samuel 13:11)
He did what he did out of fear. You see, if you want to succeed this year, then you must deal with this fear that causes you to be impatient. There is a fear that will force you to run ahead of God, to try and move into your destiny when it’s not yet ready. In fact it causes you to miscarry and abort your purpose.
If you pick a fruit that is not yet ripe and you begin to eat it, you can’t then put it back on the shelf or in the fridge and wait for it to ripen, it’s already too late. It is the same thing with the timing of God.
** JUST LIKE NEHEMIAH, YOU MUST TAKE THE TIME TO PREPARE AND WAIT ON GOD FOR THE RIGHT TIMING **
If Nehemiah, although he heard from God correctly through a conviction in his heart, failed to take the necessary preparations and wait on the right time, he would have most likely failed to secure that favour he needed from the king. That is why it’s so important to commit everything to God but trust Him for the right season.
But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.(James 1:4)
The Lord revealed to me that many in the body of Christ are under demonic assignment to rush ahead of their divine timing.
