Dear Child of God,
How did Nehemiah know when it was the right time to approach the king for favour? Upon first hearing the news about the state of the city of Jerusalem, he initially went into fasting and prayer. As we mentioned yesterday, it was 4 months until he spoke a word to the king about it. Nehemiah didn’t just rush ahead the moment he felt a conviction in his heart, but he took time to prepare himself, through fasting and prayer, but also to calculate all what would be needed in order to finish the job. The day he spoke to the king was not the day he decided what would be needed; he had already planned everything to the t. All what he was waiting was the right moment.
Child of God, yesterday we discovered why you must not rush ahead every time you have a desire to do something, but you must prepare yourself first. At the same time, how do you take your desire and turn it into something tangible. How do you make your dream to become a reality?
Nehemiah had taken the time to turn his desire into a vision; he wrote down all the details and all what would be required. My question to you is, that desire that God has put in your heart, that thing that inspires you, what have you done about it? What type of plan have you ever made to put it into action? So many dreams die in the womb. I heard one man say once
“The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream.”
That is why tonight, I must anoint you with a special grace so that you can begin to turn your dreams into a reality. It would have done Nehemiah no good just to have a desire. He had to cultivate that into a vision for his future. He had to write it down in details.
And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by (Habakkuk 2:2)
