Dear Child of God,
It’s easy to trust God when things are going well, but what about when it looks like everything is against you? It’s amazing how a trial can cause you to lose sight of the future God has for you.
Sometimes in an attempt to follow the plan of God for your life, you may find yourself in the midst of chaos and confusion, questioning everything about yourself, your life and your destiny. This is exactly where David found himself after realising King Saul was out to get him and having to run for fear of his life. It’s true he had no intention of overthrowing Saul and taking his kingdom; he was simply being obedient to God. But now he was being chased like a dog and quickly realising he didn’t have anywhere he could turn to, except God.
Child of God, it’s in times like these where the future seems uncertain, when suddenly we are faced with situations that we did not plan for or expect, that we want to hide or isolate ourselves from those around us. But this is none other than the spirit of fear that wants to manifest itself in your life.
The Bible tells us,
Later David went to Mizpeh in Moab, where he asked the king, “Please allow my father and mother to live here with you until I know what God is going to do for me.” So David’s parents stayed in Moab with the king during the entire time David was living in his stronghold.(1 Samuel 22:3-4)
David thought, I can’t even take care of myself, how can I take care of my parents? Though he was anointed by the most powerful and only prophet in the land, Prophet Samuel, to be the future king of Israel, suddenly he was questioning everything about his life and his destiny. Does God still love me? Does God still have a plan for me? God where are you?
Child of God, at the moment, though things around you may look and feel uncertain, God says fear not, my plans for you have not changed. Now is not the time to run from your problems but to run to God. For He is on your side.

David wanted to stay in the cave, in the stronghold, he wanted to shut himself off from the world, but God had better plans for him. A cave is usually a horizontal hole in the earth, or a mountainside. It’s not much different than a pit apart from the fact that you can walk yourself in and out of it. But there is only one point of access. Which means if the devil wants to bring trouble to your door, there’s no way to escape.
Today we may not be living in physical strongholds, but we certainly do face mental ones. These could be negative thought patterns, bad habits, wrong beliefs, and other things that keep us from experiencing the peace of God. But God wants you to come out of every stronghold.
*** I CAN SEE A SPIRIT OF FEAR THAT HAS BEEN RELEASED AGAINST YOU TO BRICK MOCKERY AND SHAME INTO YOUR LIFE ***
David was a mighty warrior, anointed by God for battle, but now the spirit of fear had him hiding out in a cave, unable to help anybody. Child of God that is not your portion. Whatever is trying to back you into a corner, it must be exposed tonight in Jesus name. Whatever is trying to cause you to forfeit your destiny, tonight it must let you go!
One day the prophet Gad told David, “Leave the stronghold and return to the land of Judah.” So David went to the forest of Hereth.(vs 5)
Hereth was a place of tranquillity, a place to meet and converse with God. Child of God, today if you will open up your heart to receive, God wants to speak to you. That is why tonight I’ll be holding a special service about this, and I want to pray for you personally. If you have been drowning in fears and doubts lately about what’s going to happen with your life and where God is, then today I want to encourage you to come out of that stronghold. God has got bigger and better for you, and as you refuse to stay stuck, but move on with God, you are about to find out what it is.
Prophet Gad did not go to David right away, it was on a specific day and time once he had been instructed by God. Tonight it’s time for you to be free. To rise up and throw off all the chains that have been holding you back.
Right now I want you to send me your prayer request about the areas you have been questioning God, experiencing fear and worry and doubt. I’m going to print it off and pray for you this evening for God to help you to come out of that stronghold.
